Economic times being what they are, most everyone is trying to save money where they can, and this seems like an excellent tradeoff to me.
Third, bare wood furniture lets you to put your imaginative stamp on it as you finish the piece, rather than getting something "just like every 3rd house in the country." Express yourself! Be unique! Create something that's real "you."
